Donald Hunter

Practice Director Donald Hunter graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a Post Graduate Diploma with distinction in Advanced Architectural Design. During this period Donald completed a six month exchange studying at Sint-Lucas University in Ghent, Belgium. Following university, Donald worked for Roots Architecture in Glasgow and Tiree then Wham Architecture in Ayr, where he gained a wide range of experience on projects throughout Scotland, notably the renovation of the living quarters at Iona Abbey on the Isle of Iona. Donald qualified as an architect in 2019, prior to establishing Donald Hunter Architects in 2020 in his native Ayrshire. 

Since leaving university Donald has been a regular guest examiner at design reviews and recently became a guest lecturer within the Architecture Department at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow. He has a passion for design and enjoys seeing a project progress from the initial sketches to being realised on site. 

As a chartered architect, Donald is a member of both The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland and The Royal Institute of British Architects.
