Located within the rural landscape of Jelliston Farm near Coylton, this new-build home has been designed to replace an existing stable block and form part of the established cluster of buildings on the farm. The site enjoys open views across the Ayrshire countryside, which became a key influence in shaping the design and layout of the new dwelling.
The client’s brief was to create a contemporary, single-storey home that complemented its rural setting while providing practical on-site accommodation to care for their horses. The proposed house includes three bedrooms, an open-plan kitchen, dining and living space, a separate snug, and a utility room.
The design explores a simple, elegant form with a split roof incorporating clerestory glazing to maximise natural light. Large windows and sliding doors frame the surrounding fields, connecting the interior with the wider landscape and nearby loch.
